About Me
Professional Napper. 5’6” But Can Be Shorter. A Woman of Many Hair Colors.
Hello! My name is Ruby Doran. I am a singer/actor/professional mover when I have to and am so happy you’ve made it this far! I am originally from Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey and moved to New York City in the fall of 2022 to pursue my B.F.A in Musical Theatre at Pace University. I have been torturing my parents with show tunes since I was 5, and it has only gotten worse.
Growing up, I was fortunate enough to run back and forth to the city for auditions (thank you Momager!), and actually book some! My first “big” projects were the music video for Death Cab for Cutie’s “Stay Young, Go Dancing” and being a featured extra in the Academy Award winning Silver Linings Playbook. Those paychecks were promptly spent on Monster High Dolls and a microphone. Too tall at the time to play my age range on stage, I developed a love for acting on screen very quickly.
At 17, I was cast on Season 20 of American Idol, and less than a few months later I committed to Pace Musical Theatre’s Class of 2026. While at Pace, I have been awarded the opportunity to hone in on my craft and do it around people I love. What’s better than that?
Most recently, I played Sandy in the Greater Ocean City Theatre Company’s production of Grease! Prior to that, I worked on The American Football Musical alongside Kerry Butler, Larry Owens, Mary Testa, and Anne L. Nathan in my first AEA workshop/presentation!
When I am not performing, you will absolutely find me watching Shameless, binge reading celebrity autobiographies (currently on Cher), dyeing my hair at home, and napping why of course!
Feel free to peruse my FAQs below, as I know you must have lots of them.
